What materials are used in my Helix Mattress?

Each Helix Mattress is made using high-end materials in varying densities and IFDs in order to achieve different feel and support characteristics. While the layers and specific materials in your mattress may differ from model to model, we use the following materials:

Cover:

Soft Touch Cover Material - 100% soft polyester for our standard models and cooling Tencel for the LUXE.

Foam:

Memory Plus Foam - Uniquely contouring and cushioning, we use Memory Plus Foam - a high density special Helix blend. IFD:10. Density: 2.5-4.0 PCF.

Helix Dynamic Foam - Our special latex-foam hybrid alternative, designed to react to and cushion your body. IFD: 10-20. Density: 2.5-3.75 PCF.

High-Grade Polyfoam - Providing pressure relief and ergonomic support for your body type. IFD: 20-55.

DuraDense Foam - Used in the bottom layer of the mattress to provide base support and durability IFD: 55.

Springs:

Individually Wrapped Coils - Hundreds of individual coils made from 100% tempered steel help to cradle your body while also limiting motion transfer. Reinforced perimeter to provide edge support. Height: 8 inches.

Each Helix LUXE Mattress uses the most premium materials with high-densities to give you top of the line comfort. We vary the IFDs and specific material to achieve the right comfort and support level that is best for each type of sleeper. While the layers and specific materials in your mattress may differ from model to model, we use the following materials:

Premium Quilted Pillow Top featuring Ultra Breathable Tencel Cover designed to increase airflow to keep you cool. Pillow Top has 10 IFD polyfoam covered by cooling Tencel fabric.

Gel Visco - Top of the line pressure relieving for best in class comfort. IFD: 10. Density: 2.5 PCF.

Yes! The Oeko-Tex certification affirms that a product is free of any harmful chemicals. All of our products are certified by Oeko-Tex to be guaranteed free of potentially dangerous substances.

The mattress sizes we offer and their corresponding dimensions are below. Please note that, due to the handmade nature of our product, mattress dimensions can vary by up to 1” on any given side.

What will my Helix Mattress feel like?

Each Helix Mattress is designed to provide different feels - ranging from plush to firm. We encourage you to take our SLEEP QUIZ in order to find the best mattress for you based on your body type, sleeping position, and mattress preferences with the goal of providing you the most comfort with the right amount of support to align your spine.

What does Zoned Lumbar Support Coils mean in the Helix LUXE Mattress?

Each Helix LUXE Mattress features Zoned Lumbar Support Coils which are designed to provide better cradling to your body. The coils are actually softer under your shoulders and firmer under your hips to better align with the natural shape of your body. This allows for consistent pressure relief on your joints and muscles throughout the night.

Should I ever flip my Helix Mattress over?

No - the Helix Mattress is not designed to be flipped over. The ordering of the layers is critical to the performance of the mattress. The Helix logo should always be upright at the bottom part of the mattress.

Can I clean my Helix Mattress cover?

Yes, you can spot clean your Helix Standard and Helix LUXE mattress covers. Unfortunately, you cannot remove the covers.

If you are worried about stains, spills, or dirt we suggest you purchase a Helix Mattress Protector.

Will my Helix Mattress get body impressions or sag over time?

We chose top quality materials in all of our designs to prevent this. The Helix Mattress is built to be resilient and durable, preventing permanent sags or impressions from developing for a very long time. In order to guarantee this, your support system or base of the mattress should be solid or have slats no wider than five inches apart.

Should I ever rotate my Helix Mattress?

Because our mattress is built to last, you do not need to rotate the mattress. However, you are welcome to if you’d like! For those with a LUXE, the zoned lumbar region is positioned across the middle of the mattress so rotating it will not affect where the extra support is.

I'm allergic to latex. Is that a problem?

Nope! You're in luck. We don't use latex in any of our products.

How safe are the materials in my Helix Mattress?

All foams used in our products are certified to be safe for both you and the environment. They are certified by the CertiPUR-US® program, which guarantees they are made without any harmful chemicals including ozone depleters, PBDE flame retardants, mercury, lead, heavy metals, formaldehyde, and have extremely low impact on indoor air quality.

What safety tests have you done on my Helix Mattress?

We’ve ensured that your Helix Mattress meets all of the strict safety regulations set forth by the US Federal Government. According to regulations 16 CFR Part 1633 and 16 CFR Part 1632, all mattresses sold in the US must pass an open flame test to evaluate how fire reacts to the bed and its components. Each of our beds contains a fire retardant fabric to comply with regulations. This material is a fire retardant, yarn fabric that contains silica, which smothers and subdues a potential fire from spreading. The silica is a derivative of bamboo fiber.

Do you make custom sizes?

At this time, we are unable to accommodate special requests for custom sizes.

Does my Helix Mattress have a weight limit?

Each Helix Mattress can support up to 1,000 lbs of combined weight and up to 500 lbs for individual sleepers. These weight limits are established by successful testing conducted by our team.

What is different about the Helix Plus mattress?

Helix Plus is our specialty mattress designed for plus size and big & tall customers. The mattress itself has an additional layer of foam for support. The mattress also has a spring unit with more coils to cradle heavier weight. These upgraded features include a higher price point than our other Helix models.

Does my Helix Mattress have an odor, or an off-gassing period?

We use high-grade materials that have little to no odor or chemical off-gassing. Our foams are certified by the CertiPUR-US® program. It does not contain any harmful chemicals, heavy metals, or high impact of air quality. There is no need to air out your mattress overnight. Any faint odors or smells will dissipate within 24-hours.

Does the Helix Mattress work with adjustable bases?

Yes! The Helix Mattress should work with any adjustable base, but we suggest the Helix Adjustable Base which we have tested.

Does the Helix Mattress require a foundation?

Although a foundation isn’t required, a support system for your mattress is highly recommended. The best option is to use the Helix Foundation to provide the proper support and avoid sagging. If you prefer to use a different support system, we recommend using a bunkie board with a box spring or any support system with firm, flat and thick slats. No matter which support system you choose, the slats should be no wider than 5 inches apart as that could cause sagging and could potentially void your warranty.

What is the warranty?

Every standard Helix Mattress comes with a 10 year warranty. Every Helix LUXE Mattress comes with a 15 year warranty. These warranties protect each customer from any defects in the materials or workmanship of the product that develop from normal and reasonable use. What's the return policy?

We offer a 100 Night Sleep Trial. If for any reason you do not love your Helix Mattress you can return it within your first 100 nights. Because there is a break-in period, we require that you keep the mattress for at least 30 nights before requesting a return.

Is there an adjustment, or break-in, period?

You will likely experience an adjustment or break-in period with our mattress. Sleeping on a mattress that has been suited for your sleeping needs and preferences is a new experience and your body will need time to align to a new sleep system. Just like a new pair of shoes, the materials in the mattress need to be physically broken in, so it might feel more stiff than you’d expect in the first few weeks. We require that you give your new Helix Mattress at least 30 days to experience the full effect.

Can I use a my Helix mattress with any base?

A support system for your mattress is highly recommended. The best option is to use the Helix Foundation to provide the proper support and avoid sagging. If you prefer to use a different support system, we recommend using a bunkie board with a box spring or any support system with firm, flat and thick slats. No matter which support system you choose, the slats should be no wider than five inches apart as that could cause sagging and could potentially void your warranty. Traditional boxspring typically do not provide enough support for Helix Mattresses.

​If you have an existing foundation that has support beams with gaps wider than 4-5" apart, putting down a piece of plywood that fits the frame can do just the trick. This piece of wood is sometimes called a "bunkie board​".

Do I need to take the Sleep Quiz?

We give you the option to take our Sleep Quiz or choose a mattress yourself if you know exactly what you want! But if you have any doubts, we encourage you to take our Sleep Quiz which is based on years of research and tens of thousands of customers.

What does it mean to be matched to Side Sleeper Support vs. All Positions Support?

We aim to give you the right amount of support to make sure your spine is aligned in order to reduce pain and improve comfort. It’s possible to have too little support, but also too much support. Some of our mattress are listed as “Side Sleeper Support”. These mattress are best for people who sleep on their side, or people who toss and turn all night long. Our other mattresses are listed as “All Positions Support.” These mattresses are best for people who sleep on their back or stomach, and side sleepers who are heavier and need a little extra support. Both types of mattresses are designed to be as supportive and comfy as you need!

Why am I being charged a recycling fee?

California, Connecticut, and Rhode Island require a recycling fee for any mattress or foundation purchase. The fee is $10.50 per item and cannot be waived by Helix.

Do you offer financing options?

We’ve partnered with Klarna to offer customers flexibility in their payment choices. To take advantage of financing options, select "Pay With Klarna" at checkout, follow the prompts, and enter some basic information for an instant loan decision. Klarna loans vary depending on eligibility, with as low as 0% APR interest. Please note Klarna loans are not currently available for residents of West Virginia, Iowa, New Hampshire, and Canada.

How do you keep your prices affordable?

Our approach is to make your mattress buying experience simple, convenient and affordable. We've optimized our designs to give you a great night’s sleep. Do I need to pay sales tax?

Mattress shipping

How is my Helix Mattress shipped?

Your Helix Mattress is gently compressed, rolled, and put in a box that’s about the size of a bag of golf clubs for easy shipping! Packaging dimensions are 16” x 16” x 48”, and we ship via FedEx Ground direct from the manufacture to your home. Please note FedEx drivers are not required to bring mattresses up or down steps and may leave your package on the ground floor or with a doorman if they are unable to deliver directly at your door.

What are the shipping costs?

We provide free shipping to all US orders. All Canadian orders will incur a shipping fee of $250 per mattress as well as a Customs Tax. These additional fees are applied during checkout.

How long will it take for my order to arrive?

We’re doing our best to keep our team (and you!) safe during the pandemic which means extended production times. Helix products are made to order and are currently being produced and shipped from our facility in 1-4 weeks.

How much does my Helix Mattress weigh?

Based on the construction of each mattress, the weight can vary within the following ranges: King/CA King (100-110 lbs), Queen (90-100 lbs), Full (80-90 lbs), Twin XL (50-60 lbs), Twin (50-60 lbs). LUXE models will be about 20-30 pounds heavier in each size.

Where is my Helix Mattress manufactured?

Your Helix Mattress is made in the USA! We produce and ship directly out of our manufacturing facilities across the United States.

Where do you ship?

We ship to all 50 states within the United States as well as most of Canada. We currently do not ship to Yukon, Nanavut, and Northwest Territories.

Can I change my shipping address?

If you need to change your shipping address, email help@helixsleep.com as soon as possible. Once a package has been shipped, you can use FedEx Delivery Manager services to update your shipping information and/or redirect a package to a new address.

Do I need to be home to receive the package?

All of our packages are sent via FedEx Ground without the need for signature confirmation. However, your FedEx driver reserves the right to hold the package until a signature is obtained in the event they are not confident they can release your package safely.

Can I request a specific delivery date?

We cannot provide exact shipment details until the package has been shipped. If you have specific delivery needs, we recommend registering for FedEx Delivery Manager, a service that gives you control over your delivery arrival dates. You can reschedule delivery times, set notifications, and change your address. Once you've registered, you can manage the delivery right from the tracking page.

How do I check my order status?

You will receive a confirmation email once your order ships that includes the tracking information. You can also check the status via our My Orders page. If you're unsure the status of your order, feel free to reach out to our team at help@helixsleep.com and we’ll look into it for you.

Do you ship internationally?

We currently ship to all of the US and parts of Canada. As we grow, so will our reach. Stay tuned!

Can you ship to a PO Box/APO/FPO address?

At this time, we are unable to provide shipping to any of these types of address per regulations with FedEx.

Do you deliver on the weekends?

FedEx delivers on Saturdays for any packages under 70 lbs. If you have specific delivery needs, we recommend you sign up for FedEx Delivery Manager, a free service that gives you control over your deliveries. You can reschedule delivery dates or hold packages at a FedEx facility for up to five business days.

Mattress returns

How does the 100 Night Sleep Trial work?

The 100 Night Sleep Trial is our guarantee that comes along with your Helix Mattress purchase and begins the day your item is delivered. If you are unhappy with the mattress for any reason, you can return it for a full refund within the 100 night trial period, after 30 days. Since all new mattresses have a break-in period, we require customers to keep the mattress for 30 nights before initiating a return.

What happens to returned mattresses?

We do our best to donate lightly used mattresses to charities and housing facilities. When we’re unable to do so due to relevant laws or the state of the mattress, we enlist one of our removal partners to recycle the mattress and its materials responsibly. We only use our junk removal partners as a last resort.

Do I need to keep the box to return my mattress?

Once your Helix Mattress regains its shape, you will not be able to roll it back up to fit in its original box. This means that after you set up your mattress, you can recycle its box and packaging. If you end up needing to return your mattress (we hope you won't have to!), we will have one of our donation partners pick up the mattress. You would not have to worry about shipping it back to us.

When will I receive my refund?

Once a refund has been issued, it takes 5-7 business days for the credit to be reflected back onto your original form of payment (up to 10 business days for some banking institutions). If you paid through our financing partners, your refund will be reflected on your account within 3-5 business days.

What's the return policy and how do I initiate a return?

The 100 Night Sleep Trial allows you to return your mattress for a full refund if it’s not a fit for you. The 100 day trial begins on the day your mattress was delivered. We do not accept returns before 30 nights due to the inherent break-in period. Be sure to request your return before the 100 nights, and we'll arrange for your mattress to be removed by one of our removal partners. Once removed, we'll issue a full refund.

The return timeline can vary dependent on your geography and what local services are available. To initiate a return, email help@helixsleep.com. The subject line of the email should read “Return Request - [Your Order #]”. In the body of the email, include the full name on the order and a description of what’s prompting your return. We do our best to donate returned mattresses locally. If we cannot donate it due to relevant laws or the state of the mattress, we'll have a trusted recycling partner remove it from your home.

Only up to two returns of any mattress per customer, household, and/or delivery address is permitted.

Mattress setup

How long can I keep my Helix Mattress in the box?

We recommend that you do not keep your Helix Mattress in its original packaging for more than four weeks after receiving your mattress. Spending too much time in the packaging can affect the resilience of the mattress, preventing it from re-gaining its full shape. It’s important to note that your 100 Night Sleep Trial begins on the day of arrival, so you won’t want to keep it boxed up for too long!

Tell me more about how to setup my Helix Mattress.

Setup instructions are included in your shipping confirmation email, as well as inside the packaging when the mattress arrives. Once it arrives, simply remove the mattress from the box and set it on your foundation while it’s still encased in plastic. Then, remove the mattress from its plastic wrapping, give it 2 hours to regain its shape, and you’re done! The embroidered Helix logo should be upright and positioned at the foot of the bed.

Is the packaging recyclable?

All of our packaging materials are recyclable—including the box. Simply break it down and recycle it in the appropriate bins. Feeling creative? Show off your skills. What is the Helix Foundation?

The Helix Foundation is the perfect match for your Helix Mattress. It provides extra height to your bed, and most importantly, the right kind of support for your mattress. It has thick slats 5 inches apart to provide the best support and airflow. It fits in any traditional bed frame or on the floor, and should be used as a box spring replacement.

What's in the Helix Foundation?

Your Helix Foundation consists of high grade birch wood surrounded by a woven exterior fabric. It also features industrial grade rounded corners. Completely made in the USA.

Is the Helix Foundation a box spring?

In short, kind of. The Helix Foundation is very similar to a box spring and has the same dimensions. However, the Helix Foundation has been built to give much better support for a foam mattress than you would get from a traditional box spring through a slatted design.

Why are the foundations an inch shorter than the mattresses?

We designed our foundation to fit within all standardized bed frames. Mattresses typically extend less than ½ inch over all sides of a foundation, this is done purposely to properly fit in the bed frame and support your mattress. Don’t worry, this slight difference in size will not affect the support of your mattress.

How do I assemble the Helix Foundation and how long will it take?

The assembly of the Helix Foundation is simple and can be completed in 4 quick steps. Just like our Sleep Quiz it should take you 2-3 minutes to assemble, no tools required! Mattress protector

What is the Helix Mattress Protector?

The Helix Mattress Protector is the perfect item to keep your mattress as fresh and clean as the first night you slept on it. It is completely waterproof (protecting your Helix Mattress from any accidental spills or stains), breathable and cool (allowing for optimal airflow), completely quiet (toss and turn as you please, no crinkling will keep you up at night) and soft to the touch (not affecting the feel of your Helix Mattress at all). The protector is machine washable and made up of woven polyester, lined with TPU fabric. The skirting of the protector is made to fit snugly around your Helix Mattress, preventing any shifting throughout the night.

Can I wash my Helix Mattress Protector?

Yes, you can absolutely wash your mattress protector. We recommend washing it with cold water and normal household detergent. Please do not use bleach. Tumble dry on low or medium heat. Do not iron or dry on high heat as that will damage the waterproofing layer.

Can I use the Mattress Protector with the Ultra-Cool Pad?

Yes! The Ultra-Cool Pad uses Phase Change Material (PCM) technology, which means it absorbs and releases thermal energy to maintain a regulated temperature. Body heat can be absorbed from high temperature areas and transferred to the cooler extremities. It does not depend on direct contact, so you can layer it with the Mattress Protector.

Where is the Mattress Protector made?

The Helix Mattress Protector is sourced from and assembled in China via our US based manufacturer, then packaged and shipped from the US.

Will the Mattress Protector ship with my Helix Mattress and Foundation?

The Helix Mattress Protector ships from our manufacturer in Illinois and ships separately from other products in your order.

Will the Mattress Protector make me sleep hotter?

Absolutely not! We specifically designed the Mattress Protector to not disrupt the awesome airflow features of the Helix Mattress. The Helix Mattress Protector is both breathable and cool, does not trap heat, and provides the optimal airflow paired with your Helix Mattress.

Can I buy the Mattress Protector without buying a Helix Mattress?

Of course! We recommend using the Helix Mattress and the Helix Mattress Protector together for the best sleep experience, however the Helix Mattress Protector will work with any mattress up to 14" tall.

Where does my Mattress Protector go?

The Helix Mattress Protector fits snugly around your mattress, under your fitted sheet.

What's the return policy?

Can I use a bed frame with my new Adjustable Base?

Yes! The Adjustable Base is able to fit into almost any slatless bed frame, though a frame is not required. Please note, you cannot attach a headboard directly to the Adjustable Base; you would have to purchase a separate headboard bracket directly from the manufacturer.

Can I assemble the Adjustable Base on my own?

Due to the heavy nature of the Adjustable Base, you will need 2 people to complete the setup of the base and maneuver it around your home.

How many positions can the Adjustable Base move into?

The Helix Adjustable Base is designed to be personalized to your comfort. That means it has head up, foot up, Zero Gravity, and Memory Setting capabilities. Find whichever position works best for you!

What is Zero Gravity (ZG)?

The Zero Gravity position allows for the legs and head to be raised at just the right angle to reduce back pressure and increase circulation. To be in perfect Zero Gravity, the angle of your thighs and torso should be aligned, so your knees are slightly bent and raised to heart level. Your base comes preprogrammed to the ZG reclined position for optimal weight distribution.

Do I need to use the retainer bar that was provided?

Yes, we recommend you use the retainer bar to keep your mattress securely in place when using your Adjustable Base.

How does size King and CA King work?

What weight selection is right for me?

Our recommendation is to select a weight that is around 8-12%+ of your bodyweight, which usually adheres to the below:

10 lbs (Bodyweight: Less than 125 lbs)

In-Home Delivery & Setup includes unrolling your Helix mattress and assembly of your Helix Foundation, Helix Frame, and / or Adjustable Base. Our delivery partner will also place your unrolled Mattress on a pre-existing assembled base or on your new Helix base.

In-Home Delivery & Setup is $149 flat for the first item in your order, and $199 flat rate if your order consists of 2 or more items. Please note the Helix King and CA King Adjustable Base products come in two separate packages, so these items will cost $199 for setup.

You will receive both text and email notifications to schedule your delivery and setup appointment once your items are in-transit to the local hub. Once your order has reached the delivery hub closest to your residence, our delivery partner will hold your items for a maximum of 20 days before returning them to our warehouses. If you select to upgrade to In-Home Delivery & Setup at checkout (with or without Old Mattress Removal), we will send you a text and email notification when your delivery appointment is available for scheduling. Simply click the link in the notification, and it will take you to a scheduling app where you will be able to see all available windows. If you need to reschedule at any time, simply go back to this same link to reschedule.

We will also send you a confirmation once you have scheduled your appointment, and we will send a reminder 24 hours prior to your scheduled appointment.

Re-scheduling through the link is simple if you need to do so, but please make every effort to reschedule prior to the day of your scheduled delivery!

Remember, your purchase of Old Mattress Removal for $75 covers the removal of up to 3 items (mattress and / or box spring / foundation) being replaced by a new Helix product, so please make sure to have each item being removed ready to go!

How much is Old Mattress Removal?

Our delivery partner is happy to remove your old mattress and / or box spring / foundation, but this is an add-on service priced at a flat rate of $75 in addition to the cost of In-Home Delivery & Setup ($149 or $199 depending on product mix). The $75 flat fee covers the removal of up to 3 items being replaced by new items in your Helix order. Removal services are limited to old mattresses and / or box springs / foundations, and our partner will not remove your old bed frames or adjustable bases. Removal will take place during the same scheduled appointment.
