What type of mattress is best for a child?
As kids grow, their needs change. For younger children, ages 3-7, a medium-to-firm mattress is best to provide proper spinal support and aid development of their growing bodies. For older kids, ages 8-12, a medium-to-soft mattress is best to provide plush pressure relief while still offering support.
Is the Helix Kids Mattress safe?
Yes, of course! The Helix Kids Mattress is CertiPUR-US certified, ensuring our foam layers are constructed without the use of harmful chemicals including ozone depleters, PBDE flame retardants, mercury, lead, heavy metals, or formaldehyde.
The Helix Kids Mattress is also lead and phthalate tested, flammability tested, and includes a cutting-edge AEGIS® Microbe Shield treatment that offers optimal freshness and hygiene for the life of this Helix mattress.
Additionally, the spring layer of this hybrid mattress has two reinforced lengthwise sides that provide structure to the mattress and help keep your children safely in bed while they sleep.
Does the Helix Kids Mattress need a foundation?
Unlike a traditional innerspring mattress, the Helix Kids Mattress is a hybrid mattress designed primarily with foam layers. It will require a solid support system to prevent any dipping or sagging in the surface of the mattress.
In order to comply with the terms of our warranty, you will need either a solid platform bed or a slatted foundation with no more than 5 inches between each slat. We do not recommend using a traditional box spring with your Helix Kids Mattress.
Will the Helix Kids Mattress work on bunk beds?
We designed the Helix Kids Mattress with bunk beds in mind and limited the overall height of the mattress to 8 inches in order to be compatible with most bunk bed setups. We do highly recommend, though, that you consult the specific safety guidelines for your bunk bed to confirm whether it is compatible with an 8-inch mattress.
Does the Helix Kids Mattress include a 100 Night Sleep Trial?
Yes! We want you and your child to be in love with your new Helix mattress before you decide to keep it. That’s why the Helix Kids Mattress includes a 100 Night Sleep Trial, just like all of our other Helix mattresses, which will begin on the day of delivery. Your child will have 100 nights to try it out and decide if it’s the perfect fit. If it’s not, just let us know and we will be happy to coordinate a free return and full refund.
Please note that we require a 30-day break-in period for all Helix mattresses as we expect the new foams to soften just a bit over these first few weeks. Because of this break-in period, we are not able to begin the return process within the first 30 days of your sleep trial.
Does the Helix Kids Mattress include a warranty?
Yes! Every Helix Kids Mattress comes with a 10-year manufacturer’s warranty which guards against dipping or sagging of more than 1-inch in the surface of the mattress when used with the proper support system. Dipping or sagging over 1 inch in the surface of the mattress will need to be demonstrated with no weight applied to the surface of the mattress.
