Although a foundation isn’t required, a support system for your mattress is highly recommended. The best option is to use the Helix Foundation to provide proper support and avoid sagging. If you prefer to use a different support system, we recommend using a bunkie board with a box spring or any support system with firm, flat and thick slats. No matter which support system you choose, the slats should be no wider than 5.5 inches apart as that could cause sagging and could potentially void your warranty.

Memory foam layers, like those used in the Helix Sunset, are excellent at conforming and hugging to your body. This provides pressure relief for your hips and shoulders compared with bouncier foams that push back against your body. 

Softer foam layers, like those used in the Helix Sunset, allow your body to sink into the mattress a bit more than medium-firm mattresses. Soft mattresses like the Sunset offer a plush feel and optimal pressure relief.

Yes the Sunset, like all Helix mattresses, is GREENGUARD Gold and Certipur-US certified. It is assembled in our Arizona factory to ensure the highest quality. 

A hybrid mattress is made with a combination of foam layers and steel coils. Because every Helix mattress is a hybrid mattress, we are able to ensure optimal support for sleepers of all sizes and provide long-lasting durability. Hybrid mattresses are also great for hot sleepers because they offer more airflow and breathability than an innerspring mattress or a memory foam mattress. 

It’s generally advised to invest in a new mattress every 8-10 years but a lot of the decision comes down to whether you are getting enough support and pressure-relieving from your current mattress. Even with a plush mattress like the Helix Sunset, it’s important to ensure you are getting enough support while you sleep.
